Job SummarySenior-level analog / mixed-signal IC design engineer developing innovative ICs for Microphone productsResponsibilitiesWork with IC design, CAD, MEMS design, digital design, and layout design engineering teams in multiple world-wide locations to jointly develop innovative ICs for microphone sensorsAssist in defining and specifying new IC devices for these markets by participating in brainstorming, literature searches, and feasibility analyses of new architectures and circuits to improve the performance, features, cost, power consumptions, and/or manufacturability of the ICs.
Perform technical competitive analyses when neededContribute to the implementation (design, simulation-based verification, and chip integration) and validation of new and derivative ICs for these marketsPerform system level, sub-system level, and block level IC design activities including circuit architecture exploration, circuit design, schematic capture, circuit and sub-system simulation, chip floor-planning, and layout directionContribute to package selection/evaluation, validation board design, and validation software development. Create validation plans and scripts, and collect and assess validation resultsCreate clear and thorough documentation of design and product development activities to ensure high quality designs and to support dissemination of important design information to cross-functional teamsWork with Test Engineering to define, develop, and ramp mass production wafer sort and ATE/Final Test solutionsWork with Characterization and Product Engineers to define, conduct, and analyze data from product performance characterizationMinimum RequirementsBSEE 6 years’ experience designing analog /mixed-signal ICs for mass production (alternatively, MSEE 4 years’ experience or PhD)Thorough and intuitive grasp of IC design and analysis fundamentals including linear systems, small-signal models, noise, frequency response, continuous-time and discrete-time signal processing, (non-)linearity, semiconductor device operation, etc.Familiarity with and proficiency using Cadence IC design tools for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and IC layout.
Solid understanding of the entire IC design process from product concept to release to mass productionFamiliarity with and proficiency using standard electronics test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, etc.)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience architecting and/or designing noise-limited and/or bandwidth-limited communication signal pathsAudio ASICs experienceExpertise in the design of:Low noise, low power analog circuits such as LNAs, bandgap references, open-loop amplifiers, oscillators.High performance, low power mixed-signal circuits such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, switched-cap filters, etc.
