Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.The Environmental Program Supervisor II is responsible for establishing the goals of the Wastewater/Groundwater Laboratory Certification Branch, ensuring that the goals of each work unit are properly aligned with Division and Departmental goals, and setting objectives to ensure that those goals and compliance objectives are met.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the QA/QC program for the Water Sciences Section laboratories located in Raleigh and Swannanoa NC.
  • Oversee the Central and Regional Laboratory Quality Assurance Programs to ensure they are aligned with the Department’s Quality Management Plan.
  • Provide long range planning, preparing, and initiating revisions to the program plan, revision and re-adoption of the rules that implement that plan and the budget to support the program.
  • Maintain the program at a high degree of efficiency through observations of state and federal program needs and efforts to maintain consistency with other state, federal and commercial laboratory certification endeavors.
  • Oversee daily operations to include ensuring that the audits are being performed in a timely manner, ensuring proper review and mail out of audit reports, maintaining consistency among the auditors, overseeing the billing and receipt of annual fees associated with the certification program.
  • Review post-inspection reports of supervised auditors’ findings. Address important issues which may impact the quality of environmental data reported to DWR, DWM, and others.
  • Support the Regional Office Supervisor with employee recruitment processes, performance issues, coaching and mentoring, and any other tasks related to the management of personnel.

The Division of Water Resources:
The Division of Water Resources is responsible for protecting North Carolina’s drinking, surface and groundwater for all waterbodies including lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and aquifers. This environmental stewardship is accomplished through actions including permitting issuance, investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement, monitoring and field assessments, certifications, laboratory analysis and testing, planning, water quality standards management, educational outreach and other efforts.
