Currently we are looking for someone to join our Wrocław’s centre on position of: Indirect Tax Specialist This role will be responsible for the indirect tax compliance activity in a number of countries across the EMEA region, working with internal finance colleagues (mainly country finance controllers in the Wroclaw center, as well as Group Finance colleagues in Head Office and Regional Cluster centers). The role will report into the R2R Manager, but will also report day-to-day into the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager who will have overall responsibility for the indirect tax compliance function within the EMEA region. The role will provide enhanced opportunities to ensure indirect tax return filings are up to date, improve the consistency of and control over our indirect tax compliance processes and risks, and mitigate any potential indirect tax compliance failures.
It will also be responsible for ensuring information and documentation is appropriately available if and when indirect tax audits arise in the countries covered by the role (with reference to the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager and Group Indirect Tax Director). The role’s principal and critical responsibility in its first year will be ensuring the timely and effective transition of the existing indirect tax return set-up to the new model of reporting. The role will be responsible for Indirect Tax Compliance Process Providing day-to-day support to the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager to ensure successful transition of the indirect tax compliance process to the new model Monitor the provision of indirect tax data by internal service centres (principally Wroclaw) for countries from EMEA region as part of the compliance process, acting as an escalation point for data delays and process issues; Review and approve all indirect tax data for the responsible countries from EMEA region, including resolving any issues identified during compliance process and escalating any significant issues to the Cluster Controller and EMEA Indirect Tax Manager Indirect Tax Process Improvements Work with the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager (and outsource provider initially) to drive the process for indirect tax compliance, including identifying process improvements, considering process impacts and interdependencies of processes Indirect Tax Audits Oversight on current indirect tax audits and controversy for given markets, acting as first point of contact for tax authorities where appropriate and with the support of the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager Reconciliations and Testing of Indirect Tax Data Support the Group’s Indirect Tax Lead in carrying out a program of testing and reconciliation across different EMEA countries Monitor filings across countries for consistency and ensure adjustments that may impact multiple countries are appropriately reflected in all returns Requirements Professional accounting and/or tax qualifications The specialist will likely Have worked in an in-house regional environment for 1-2 years Overall, have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience Have an accountancy or tax qualification Have Indirect Tax experience of some or all of the countries in the EMEA region (Spain, Italy, Portugal, France would be a benefit) Be proficient in English and Spanish, Italian or French would be a benefit Be proactive, hard-working and resilient Be well organised, a strong teammate and have a good understanding of governance and process Think creatively in suggesting opportunities for change and improvement in the Indirect Tax compliance process Exercise good and practical judgement, while keeping the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager fully updated Demonstrate experience of working with Indirect Tax adviser relationships and appropriately consider external costs with full reference to the EMEA Indirect Tax Manager Nice to have Relevant industry experience SAP analyst experience in reviewing individual transactions and reports.
