Take the chance and join our team in Biberach We want to create value through innovation with you In your new role you will be responsible for science-focused research projects in obesity research focusing on energy expenditure mechanisms.
As an expert on energy expenditure mechanisms, you will provide scientific input for the discovery of novel targets and therapeutic concepts addressing obesity. You will advance the science in this field by setting up methods, assays and techniques to elucidate the underlying target biology and pharmacology in vitro and ex vivo (hands-on work required). Your activities will continuously support and kick-off novel drug discovery projects.
As a recognized scientist in the field, you are expected to interact with academic partners and will present your research at internal and external meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals. You will be working in a stimulating environment in an interdisciplinary team to advance drug discovery projects and thus closely collaborate with other disciplines, including medicinal chemistry, computational biology and NBE discovery. PhD degree in medicine, veterinary medicine, biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, molecular pharmacology or related field with equivalent qualification Several years of post-doc experience in academic environment and/or pharmaceutical industry Substantial experience in cardiometabolic, specifically obesity research, with an in-depth understanding of energy expenditure mechanisms including futile cycling.
Expert knowledge about the physiology and pathophysiology of the main target organs controlling energy homeostasis (e.g. adipose tissue, muscle and/or liver) A thorough knowledge in cell culture techniques working with cell lines, primary cells, and tissues for gene and protein expression analysis as well as diverse functional assays are a must.
