Compliance Specialist Senior Primary responsibilities/essential functions: Oversees regulatory and other filings.
Reviews to ensure filing requirements, necessary documentation and procedures are adhered to. Facilitates meetings with business groups to inform and obtain information regarding changes to applicable requirements. Responsible for monitoring, identifying and overseeing filing to completion.
Provides administrative oversight to less senior team members. Researches, collects and reviews documents for regulatory exams and audits. Acts as the first point of contact for auditors/regulators.
Responds to questions and inquiries escalating matters to Compliance management team and attorneys as necessary. Follows up with the business units regarding required documentation. Prepares responses to areas of inquiry.
Ensures internal departments are current with compliance policies and regulations. Reviews compliance policies and manuals with internal departments and makes changes as needed. Independently provides answers to questions and makes recommendations to business processes in an effort to mitigate future risks.
Drafts new policies and procedures for Compliance management team and attorney review. May train business areas on compliance processes. Analyzes new regulations and impact of implementation to business practices.
Stays current on the latest regulatory changes by attending webinars, conferences and consulting with others or outside resources as appropriate. Supports internal departments with communications to external parties. Attends due diligence meetings with clients providing an overview of compliance processes and procedures at Capital.
Performs marketing document review Provide the compliance review of marketing materials, including website content, created by the Marketing & Communications. Support compliance with local conduct of business rules, CG policies and Fund messaging Assist in establishing/improving and documenting procedures designed to promote best practice for the approval of marketing material for use in Asian locations. Attend industry training sessions for ongoing familiarity with current regulatory thinking on financial promotions.
Maintain team log of marketing review requests. Maintain Disclaimer Library to be used by Marketing Communications team – review with the business area on a quarterly or bi-annual basis Drafts, reviews and revises internally generated documents for compliance and business purposes. May draft, review and negotiate agreements, materials and amendments for external entities.
May coordinate board and fund administration. Maintains or reviews compliance calendar/task list, plans for meetings and drafts agendas for review. Interacts with internal departments to gather information for board materials and directs production of board materials; may draft board memos, resolutions and minutes.
Serves as a point of contact with internal or external board members for certain issues. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. Skills/qualifications: Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving matters of high complexity.
Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues and recommending solutions on complex and broad matters. Demonstrates effective written and oral communications skills with a diverse group of associates, senior business leaders and a diverse group of individuals outside the organization. Demonstrates strong degree of accuracy.
Demonstrates ability to plan processes and work across broad, diverse groups to assure work is completed in a timely manner. Demonstrates ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives. Demonstrates expert knowledge of regulatory compliance standards.
