Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a Biomarker Lead for drug development projects to be based in Germany. Tasks & responsibilities as Senior Translational Medicine & Biomarker Lead Cardio-Metabolism As a member or leader of BI´s Early Clinical Development teams you define high quality and innovative clinical biomarker strategies. Through such biomarker strategies you enable your projects to achieve the important early clinical milestone of Proof of Clinical Principle (PoCP).
You are accountable for the successful implementation of the biomarker strategy in clinical studies, in close collaboration with BI´s Biomarker Technology Platforms and other internal and external partners. You design and execute exploratory translational medicine studies to ensure a better characterization of patient populations or to qualify biomarkers in close collaboration with internal scientists and leading external experts. This may include your participation in academic and industrial consortia.
You play a leading role in the implementation of Precision Medicine concepts in assigned projects. You also provide input into the preclinical identification of candidate biomarkers and the assessment of their usefulness during clinical development. You have the opportunity to represent Translational Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology in strategic project teams including agency meetings.
As Principal Translational Medicine & Biomarker Lead Cardio-Metabolism In the Principal role, you act as the primary internal reference contact concerning translational and biomarker approaches in a certain disease area. Requirements for a Senior Position Medical degree or PhD in a relevant field (see above) Appropriate scientific and individual qualification, including postdoctoral experience of several years and working experience in the development and implementation of biomarker concepts in a pharmaceutical or diagnostic company Expert-level disease-area knowledge with strong scientific knowledge of the pathophysiology and the main therapeutic modalities currently approved or in clinical development Knowledge and experience of the drug development process and a clear understanding of the applicable regulatory requirements Personal track record in the implementation of biomarkers in drug development with an understanding of the clinical application of such markers, their evaluation and analysis, and the linkage between the biomarker and clinical endpoints Evidence of strategic and creative thinking, a team-oriented attitude, solid negotiation skills and strong team-working competencies to collaborate successfully in a matrix environment The ability to present a well-reasoned business case and to influence others to support cross-functional implementation of new initiatives and projects The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external experts and opinion leaders Additional requirements for a Principal Position Longer duration of experience in relevant clinical area with significant time spent directing translational medicine or biomarker research projects EFFECTS OF COVID-19 We will continue to hire talented people and we look forward to receiving your applications.
