VMware Telco Cloud RAN Technical Specialist – EMEA Rome , Italy Apply Now The Telco Cloud RAN Technical Specialist is responsible for positioning and selling VMware Telco Cloud RAN vision, products and solutions with customers’ CTO and technical management, as part of a coordinated joint sales approach between VMware’s Telco and Edge Cloud Business Unit, VMware’s Regional Enterprise Account teams, Professional Services (PSO) and System Integrators. This extended team is driven to a common goal of growing revenue and projects related to Telco Cloud and especially vRAN and O-RAN. The role responsibility spans the EMEA region.
Responsibilities Assist account teams to prospect for and develop Telco Cloud RAN related opportunities. Position VMware Telco Cloud RAN solutions across 4G, 5G and private communications with customers’ CTO and technical management Understand the customers’ specific challenges when it comes to virtualization/containerization of the RAN, the competitive environment and the overall vendor ecosystem Organize and coordinate PoCs with the customers and the relevant VMware teams when required Support and help coordinate high quality answers to Telco Cloud RAN RFx. Build strong relationships with VMware accounts SE in a matrixed environment and help them understand and position VMware strategic value to an operator’s CTO organization Work with the Telco ecosystem to enable their local technical teams on VMware solutions, understand how their solutions can be best integrated with VMware solutions and partner with them when possible/required on customer engagements Participate to Industry events and conferences as needed Drive specific initiatives to support VMware Telco business in the assigned region Drive virtualization/containerization adoption in the RAN and identify new opportunities in named Telco accounts Partner with the various teams of the Telco and Edge Cloud Business Unit to get required enablement and provide feedbacks from customers and partners Independently conduct and manage conversations and relationships with our Telco customers, in coordination with Account teams Experience required Multiple years of experience in the Telecommunication industry, especially with operators’ RAN organization Knowledgeable in 3G/4G and 5G Radio network architecture and ecosystem Knowledgeable in Radio Access Network (RAN) design and RAN virtualization Knowledge of Virtualization, NFV and SDN is desirable Strong technical knowledge of 3GPP specifications as related to CU and DU and RRU protocol interfaces Knowledge of RAN Technologies (vRAN, Small Cells, MIMO, Timing and Sync with GPS, IEEE 1588v2) Familiar with O-RAN specifications and O-RAN Components is desirable Familiar with TIP/OpenRAN projects and/or ONF SD-RAN.
Knowledge of Private LTE, Small Cell, and Wi-Fi Industry experience is a plus Knowledge of Cloud Native Container orchestration via Kubernetes is desirable Knowledge of Management and Orchestration (e.g., MANO), Network Management, OSS/BSS, and TM Forum standards is desirable Proven experience selling complex technical solutions into Telecommunications service providers Experience coordinating matrixed v-teams of professionals in technical sales campaigns that include sales executives, field SE’s, Professional Services, Support, etc.
